SUBJECT: Err20-811 IN UNITS USING P1 LOADER
DESCRIPTION
Err20-811 may occur in units using the P1 loader. The error indicates that either:
The P1 loader is defective and cannot operate normally, or
The EJECT operation has failed. For example, EJECT could not be completed within the specified time because the outer lid of the camcorder could not be fully opened, or because the cartridge-insertion slot was obstructed.
If the P1 loader is defective, contact your Sony regional service center.
If the EJECT operation has failed, the unit can be recovered as follows.
ERROR RECOVERY
1.Remove any obstruction from the cartridge insertion slot. When the obstruction is removed, the outer lid of the camcorder should be fully open.
2.Perform the EJECT operation by either:
Pressing the EJECT button when the power is ON, or
Turning the POWER switch OFF, and then ON again. In either case, wait several seconds until mechanical noise is no longer heard.
CAUTION:
To reset the error condition, the unit must perform a complete EJECT operation, even if the cartridge has already been removed.
Follow step 2 as described, even if the cartridge can be removed manually. If the procedure is not followed, and a cartridge is reinserted, the loader may be damaged. See also “Manual Ejection” on page 2.
3.Reinsert a cartridge.
4.Insert and eject the cartridge several times to confirm that the loader operates correctly.
CANCELLATION OF ERROR MESSAGE
If error recovery is performed by turning power OFF and ON again, then the message will be cancelled immediately if either:
The unit is a PDW-D1, or
The version is 1.23 or higher.
In all other cases, the message will be cancelled when a new cartridge is inserted.
LOADER PROTECTION OPERATION
Upgrading PDW-530/510 software to the latest version is recommended.
Software V1.26 and higher implement the loader protection operation: the loader moves back to the safe position when Err20-811 occurs, so that the cartridge will not be damaged even when the cartridge is reinserted as is.
MANUAL EJECTION
When a cartridge is removed by MANUAL EJECT, the loader may not have completed its EJECT operation even when it appears to have done so. The loader cannot be moved back automatically to the safe position even if a cartridge is inserted forcefully. Therefore, whenever a cartridge is removed by the MANUAL EJECT operation:
1.Turn the POWER switch OFF and then back ON.
2.Wait several seconds until mechanical noise is no longer heard.
3.Insert a cartridge.
