SUBJECT: DISCONTINUOUS VIDEO OR AUDIO WITH XDCAM PLAYBACK
DESCRIPTION
When a clip created with a non-linear editor (NLE) is played back, video or audio may be discontinuous.
The symptom occurs:
With clips edited by an NLE
When playing back multiple clips in succession or playing back a single clip repeatedly
With the second or later clip/playback
The symptom does not occur with single clip playback.
COUNTERMEASURE
Using Unit
Play back clips one at a time with the SINGLE CLIP PB function (Setup menu 154) instead of with continuous playback.
Using NLE
Gather all clips necessary for continuous playback into a single clip, render the clip, then write the clip back to the disc.
NOTE:
The symptom is an effect of the sequence end code attached to the MXF file created by the NLE and is NOT a malfunction of the unit or disc. The sequence end code is defined with MPEG and is not a violation. Clusters of clips edited with an NLE are typically used to generate a single clip with no function to play back multiple clips in succession.
