Symptom: When camera was in manual iris mode and adjustment was made setting range did no contain F11 or F16. Went from F8 to close.

Symptom: Unit was sent in with a Sony Premium type digital videocassette. Played back portion of video that customer had recorded. Observed FM envelope with scope using TP9 on the Rewrite PWB, also turned DIP SW0 from zero to one to activate Error rate monitor. Entrance side of envelope both channels would breathe (collapse).Picture on monitor contained blocking and drop-out of audio. Made a recording on a brand new JVC ProfessionalDV (63min.) tape and when played back observed a complete different set of results. Error rate was less than 100 per ch. and FM envelope waveforms were absolutely flat picture and sound both good. Also used JVC consumer grade DV tape with good results.

Subject: Unit goes to emergency VTR WARNING[HARD] - because of DV CAM tape

Symptom: Unit goes to emergency VTR WARNING[HARD] AND DISPLAY 8000FFFF0A021F00000D. No Play,FF,Rew. Needed to reset unit by removing and reconnecting DC jack to remove tape. SONY 40 ADVANCED ME tape was loaded in unit. This tape caused same symptom in other GY-DV300Us (but not in BR-DV600U and GY-DV5000U).

Subject: TRIGGER KNOB POPS OUT

Symptom: TRIGGER DON`T WORK; SAME PROBLEM WITH OTHER UNIT S/N 07750164

Self Diagnosis Error Codes

Before you send or bring the camera to us for a repair: Your camcorder has a self-diagnosis display function. This condition displays your camcorders condition as a five digit code (combination of letters, numbers and figures) on the LCD screen display windows or on the view finder. If the five digit code is displayed. Check the error code chart, the last two digits indicated by □□ will differ depending on the state of your camcorder.
